Members
Members are appointed by the Board of Aldermen and serve staggered five-year terms. Officers are elected annually by the members of the Board. Alternates are appointed by the Board of Aldermen and are confirmed annually. Alternates serve only in the absence of an appointed member.

Responsibilities
The Board of Zoning Adjustment is authorized in accordance with Sections 89.010 to 89.140, RSMo, 1959, and the City of Parkville Municipal Code to hear and act on:
- Appeals of decisions made by staff in enforcement of Zoning Code
- Variances that would not be contrary to public interests and in cases in which literal enforcement of code would result in unnecessary hardship
- Special exceptions
- Other considerations as my be authorized by the Board of Aldermen through ordinance
